One week here, and I realized that like all small city, Balikpapan has its main commercial sites concentrated on one road, and u can tour all of the shopping places and still have energy left to walk back to hotel. If you go to Balikpapan, don'f forget to ask people on how to get to Jl.Sudirman. You're all set once in there. Another trait of it being a small city is the fact that there is not enough power generated by the city to satisfy its citizens growing need. Balikpapan's frequent power outage is outrageous. Electricity here is as reliable as politicians words. Balikpapan is often called blackout city, and this blackout even plaguing hotels as big as Le Grandeur, the hotel where I am staying for the first month here.
